It was one of those Friday nights where we wanted to eat out, but did not know where to go. Since we were in the area, we decided on going to Joey Burnaby, located in Madison Center. I came here back in December last year, so thought I would write an updated review on it!
We were glad that there wasn’t a wait, although most of the tables were full. We got a high table spot in the back near the bar. Our server was quite busy but she did her best to check on us and was attentive.

Shrimp pesto flatbread: I remember this being pretty good last time I ordered it, but this time it just felt greasy and unhealthy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a health snob… just that I was craving something lighter that day! It seemed like the flatbread was deep fried first, similar to how Pizza Hut fries their dough.
Since I wanted something light, this was a bit disappointing. This would be better if you were craving something greasy or if you wanted a pizza.

Fish tacos: I’m glad that the boyfriend picked this because it was a lot lighter than the flatbread! They were tasty fish tacos and came jam packed with vegetable toppings. I would order this again if I’m feeling like having something light.
Previous reviews on Joey:

Yay!
Strawberry mango slush with pearls: I can’t remember what my cousins ordered, so I’ll just describe my own. The slush had a nice consistency and was the perfect sweetness for me.
Mango sago: The mango sago was one of their specialty drinks. It was a fresh mango slush with mango chunks, mango stars, and sago. Maki opted to get it without whipped cream. She didn’t have any complaints about it, and I thought that the mango stars looked really pretty inside the drink!
After a couple visits, we discovered that Skip The Dishes offers free delivery over $20!!! How convenient (and bad) is that! We took advantage of this deal while babysitting my cousins, because it’s only worth it if you have 4+ people. Otherwise, you would have to pay $4.75 delivery fee plus tips.
Complimentary bread: We were given two baskets of bread among the 7 of us. There were two types: your regular baguette style bread, and another type which had different types of herbs. I enjoyed the latter because I could taste some rosemary, along with others.
Ricotta cheese on toast: As an appetizer, Steak and Sushi both shared the ricotta cheese on toast. They said it was simple and easy to recreate at home, but they enjoyed it nonetheless. Look at how much ricotta cheese is on each piece!
Canadese pizza: One thing that the boyfriend and I disagree on is whether or not pineapples belong on pizza. I’m going to risk losing some readers by saying that I believe pineapples belong on pizza!
Lobster and crab ravioli: This was the daily special which Lager could not pass up! It sounded delicious and a few of us considered ordering this, but in the end, only Lager did.
Linguini Alle Vongole: Sangria’s linguini came with clams, garlic, white wine, and cream. It looked very delicious, and she said it was really good!
Calamari: The food came out within minutes of ordering, it was quite impressive! Cheese recommended the squid tentacles here, so we had to give it a try. They were very fresh and crispy, and fully seasoned with Taiwanese style spices. If you’re craving squid tentacles, I would definitely recommend ordering them here!
Chicken nuggets and rice: Again, the boyfriend’s dish came out so fast! It came with a pretty big basket of Taiwanese chicken nuggets. Just like the squid tentacles, the chicken nuggets were super fresh and crispy. They had the signature Taiwanese spices which are so addicting!
Taiwanese beef noodles: A long time has passed since I had Taiwanese beef noodles, it just seems so hard to find these days! I ordered it with thick noodle for an extra $1.00.
